Thanks to the generous planning it is possible to split interests between quiet- and activity zones latter including the swimming pool, playground, restaurant and bar. As a result it is possible even in the high season to find a quiet spot and perhaps curl up with a good book in the shade of palm trees. The pool is always heated and open 24 hours a day.

If the children are happy, the parents are delighted: we grant you the opportunity to holiday and recharge your batteries. Mother and father can for example play golf, enjoy beauty treatments or a romantic candlelight dinner whilst we take care of the young ones.

The junior club for children from 3 to 13 years is free of charge (opening times are seasonal, minimum 8 hours daily until 21.30).

The children's haven includes an outside playarea with an old steam engine, a railway carriage fitted out as a restaurant, a small beachvolleyball pitch and a bouncy castle...

The playroom featuring small wooden houses allows enough space for handywork, painting or simply playing and having fun. We have Tibetan miniature goats, one pony and a donkey on our small farm with ponyriding twice weekly. Every child is given the chance of an escorted ponyride within the hotel grounds.

Children's bikes, child seats and bikes with sunshades are part of our offer, the ideal equipment for a perfect family outing.

You can insure for good weather at Albergo Losone

Should there be more than 0,5 cm of rain between 08.00 and 20.00 the insured guest will be offered the overnight stay on the day free of charge. The insurance must be taken out at least one week prior to arrival at a charge of 8% of overnight accommodation. Weather data is measured hourly by the meteorological station in Locarno-Monti and supplied to us the following day. Due to this the day of departure cannot be included in the insurance.

God Weather Insurance - Insure sunshine for the duration of your holiday!

Should it rain more than 0,5 cm between 8.00 and 20.00 the insured guest will be offered the overnight stay on the day free of charge. The insurance must be taken out at least 1 week prior to arrival at a charge of 8% of overnight accommodation. Data is measured hourly by the Meteorological Station in Locarno-Monti and supplied to us the following day. For this reason the day of departure cannot be included in the insurance.

3 Generation Discount

This covers a family comprising 3 generations spending a holiday together in Albergo Losone. The age difference between the eldest and youngest family member will be converted into CHF and deducted daily from the account. Example: grandfather is 70 and the youngest grandchild is 10 resulting in a deduction of CHF 60.00 per night. The added bonus being that the entire family spends a holiday together!

The bar is named Sartoria meaning dressmaker's shop and is decorated with tailoring utensils creating a cosy environment.

You can easily enjoy the good company until the small hours, the breakfast buffet the next morning is available until noon.

The golf course covers 16'000 m2 on the west side of the hotel comprising 9 holes suited to beginners as well as the more advanced players. Golf pro's are present year-round (special rates for hotel guests): www.sakegolf.ch.
The internationally renowned 18 hole course Gerre Losone is a mere 1 km away. Guests are entitled to reduced green fees. Golf courses in Locarno and Ascona are within 3 kms from Albergo Losone.

European Tennis Academy

As from 2007 the Albergo Losone is a member of the reputed European Tennis Academy. Enjoy playing, polish up mental techniques and improve your game with Tom Wenzel.

The story sounds like a fairytale and so from the beginning: once upon a time...

It begins with a young man called Charly Glaus who hails from the so-called Gasterland in Canton St. Gallen. Due to the lack of family funds he was unable to attend secondary school nor serve an apprenticeship as education at that time was so expensive. Not to be deterred Charly worked as a messenger and used his wages for evening classes. He was an avid reader and in 1945 achieved this main goal: to become a Swiss railway conductor...

The story sounds like a fairytale and so from the beginning: once upon a time...

Early in the 1950s he was convinced that the USA motel boom would also suit the Swiss market. He quickly realised his dream by opening his own motel in Losone. Cash was not plentiful, so at the very beginning he and his wife Charlotte were unable to install glass windows throughout resulting in rooms on offer for CHF 6.00 nighly with a glass window and for CHF 4.00 without!

From the first moment he was determined to upgrade his basic motel and unstintingly he and Charlotte worked to make improvements to both comfort and appearance of the establishment. Within 5 years the motel had been so vastly altered that he renamed it Albergo Losone.

By the 1970s daughters Ursula, Silvia and Michela also started working at the hotel and in 1977 the Albergo Losone was awarded 5-star rating.

On August 7 1978 catastrophic flooding occurred forcing 140 guests and all staff to spend a stormy night on the roof. The Maggia River caused total damage. However within 52 days the Albergo Losone reopened its doors.

A generation change in the early 1990s resulted in management being transferred to daughter Ursula and son-in-law Thomas Mosberger. The present director, Diego Glaus, has been in charge of Albergo Losone since 1995.

From 2003 to 2008 the Swiss Sunday newspaper Sonntagszeitung has named Albergo Losone as best Swiss family hotel every year.

Prototype suite Trilogy

Next, we plan to extend the Albergo Losone with 14 suites in a lake. You can also stay in the test room. The suite is divided into three floors: the ground floor is the kitchen and bathroom, first floor living room with sofa bed and in the third floor is the bedroom with bath and shower. The water in the whirlpool will be replaced after each guest. The suite is located in a swimming pond.
